Freelock, LLC cares about privacy, and has gone to great lengths to prevent any email addresses from appearing on the site. Only team administrators can see any email addresses at all, and they can only see the email addresses for their team. For obvious reasons, the site collects names and the sex of players, but there is no need to use anybody's full name--you can use only their first name, or a nickname. No other personal information is collected.
Future plans for the site includes league management. If your league signs up for this feature, league administrators will have access to player email addresses and names.
Email addresses will not be sold, released, or otherwise distributed to any other party.
Freelock, LLC cannot guarantee that your email address will remain hidden if you or any player on your team sends mail to your team's list. You have control over who can sign up for the list--the list software is initially set up to require your approval for anyone who attempts to subscribe. It also only accepts posts from subscribed members, and only allows subscribed members to view the archive. So there have been several steps taken to prevent spam robots from collecting your email addresses.
Freelock, LLC may allow advertising in the future. Only ads related to sports will be accepted (such as sport retailers, leagues, events or programs), and the advertising will be limited to ads on the Team Check-in site, and footers on email sent through the lists. You will never receive other unsolicited ads from Team Check-in.
Team Check-in stores a small file called a cookie on your computer using your browser. Team Check-in uses two types of cookies: a session cookie, and a login cookie.
The session cookie is used to remember who you're logged in as, and what league, sport, division, and team is currently active. It is automatically deleted if you leave the site, or if you don't click any link for a while. If you have session cookies disabled, the site still works, but a unique identifier is added to the URL in the address of your browser. This identifier can be "hijacked" by a malicious user if you send it in a bookmark, or are on some type of network that might be monitored. In this case, the malicious user can log into the site as you, and do anything you have permission to do. For this reason, Freelock, LLC recommends that you set your browser to allow session cookies.
The login cookie contains your email address, and is only stored if you have the "Remember Me" box checked when you enter your email address. If you have done so, you won't have to log into the site the next time you visit. If you have disabled cookies, or leave the Remember me box unchecked, you will have to log in with your email address every time you visit the site.
If you click the "Log out" link, the site will delete your login cookie, but some browsers (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer) do not actually do this until you close all browser windows.
The login cookie expires if you don't visit the site within 30 days.
Thanks for your interest, and let me know if there's anything I can help with!
